Brad enjoys all facets of open source software and loves the IT industry for the continual new technology being created. Twenty years on and he never tires of learning new things. IT Basecamp grew from when Brad, having chosen a career in the Australian Navy, found himself maintaining a website in the military for the Australian Army Alpine Club. This led to Linux and Open Source software work and, one thing led to another until he and Pierre Christen found themselves looking after local ISP's in early 1999-2000. Brad then left the military, after 12 years of service as an Aviation Technician, to start IT Basecamp. Today, IT Basecamp is a thriving business in the Shoalhaven with offices in Nowra and beautiful Huskisson. Some of the projects Brad has led include the creation of ISP accounting systems, DNS and architecture redesign for SAAS companies, a web-based ordering system for a marine wholesaler, WAN acceleration/switching and firewalling to offsite ATM's for a major bank, creation of an online art archive, setup of an in-house hosting platform, and construction of a travel industry wholesale system. Today Brad is embracing the generation Y way and immersing himself in all things social media to gain an understanding of its power. He is also always on the hunt for that next cheap ski trip to where there's a few metres of powder to do some telemark turns in or climbing and bushwalking around Australia and NZ.
ITBasecamp acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of the country in this area and pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. The South Coast of New South Wales where we live is Yuin country but indigenous people here come from a number of different groups including Brinja-Yuin, Budawang, Jerrinja, Murramarang, Walbunja, Wandandian and Wodi Wodi. We recognise their continuing connection and contribution to this land.
