Back in March Microsoft announced significant changes to its billing and licencing policies.  A new update has now been announced regarding these proposed changes to existing subscriptions.

In the initial announcement, existing Office 365 subscriptions were to go into an expired state as at 01 July 2022, meaning all users had to update to New Commerce Experience (NCE) licences before this date.  However, Microsoft has now announced that any existing subscriptions will continue to be available and can be increased and decreased as per legacy guidelines.  Any new purchases of subscriptions will be provided as an NCE product and subject to the new T&C's.
